I am tired of leaking header flanges discussion in ' the hokey ass message board ' started by testpilot, feb 17, 2009. I replaced the gasket at the head, and rewelded every connection in my exhaust system, there are no leaks whatsoever in my piping, the tick is coming from up. I put on new mr gasket performance header gaskets (the ones they sell in the performance aisle in auto parts stores) and it seems like every 6 months to a year they leak again My headers have developed a leak on the drivers side and it is so bad its to the point where i cant stand to even drive the truck anymore Any ideas on what type of gasket or brand i should use and what to do to keep it from leaking?

I have ask from cmi that if manifold and tailpipe seal leaks could that cause the water dropping out (pulling water backwards) ? Just wondering if anyone had an idea that has worked out good for. I purchased some ceramic coated headers a few years back and every since i installed them i have been having issues with my gaskets blowing I started with the simple paper looking gaskets, then the copper gaskets, moved onto the blue gaskets Finally i ended up putting the triple layer.
I know that i took the risk of buying headers and having them leak, but i didn't think that they would leak so bad that you could only hear the leaking headers and not the actual exhaust
I purchased the hedman headers, long tube, ceramic coated (which by the way the. Ok everybody i want to hear the sure fire way of sealing headers to keep them from leaking I have slp's shorties i am going to mount before i slide the motor under the car and with the limited space i dont want to screw with them again I plan on using the felpro gaskets and soak them in water.
Anyways, i ended up selling the p specific headers with the heads and switched to the bbk shorty unequal length headers I had this whole thing back together over a week ago but have been chasing a passenger side exhaust leak I have had the header off 3 times and put 3 different gaskets on it.
